Right hand diamond rings first came into popularity in the Fall of 2003 and they’ve gotten more popular every year since. They were first promoted by the Diamond Promotion Service as a way for single women to express their independence and success in life. But right hand diamond rings have grown so much in popularity, and meaning, that every woman wants one now.

A right hand ring is a fashion statement for independent career women that shows off their purchasing power. It wasn’t until recently that a woman earned enough to be able to support herself and afford a few luxuries on the side. So when right hand diamond rings first came on the scene, it made quite a statement about a woman’s earning power and position in life if she could afford to buy herself a diamond.

In the past, even if a woman had the money, she wouldn’t buy herself a diamond, for any finger, because a diamond was supposed to be given to you by the man who loved you. It was considered arrogant for women to buy their own diamonds. Or worse yet, women who bought their own diamonds were pitied and looked down upon because they didn’t have a man to buy that diamond for them. Well, not any more!

Now, a right hand ring not only signals a woman’s financial success, but it also lets you know she’s confident enough in herself to know that it’s not the end of the world if she has to buy her own diamond. In fact, it’s really very glamorous and quite stylish. Even married women are buying their own right hand rings to express their individuality and freedom. Wearing a right hand diamond ring is a fun way to let the world know you’re a vibrant, self-confident, freedom loving woman of the Twenty First Century.
